The QA Technician is responsible for production support and ensuring that finished goods are produced are safe, quality, and produced in accordance with standards and regulations. The QA Technician performs a variety of quality control tests, inspections, sensory, and submits samples for standard microbiological, chemical, physical assays at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality standards. The position will have a direct interface with production and maintenance personnel to ensure safe product output while maintaining high-quality standards through in-house and external testing of raw material and finished goods. 
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow company work and safety policies and instructions
  • Comprehend and perform routine QA line checks 
  • Production checks including but not limited to codes, labels, fill weights, etc.
  • Performing sensory on finished goods
  • Responsible for quality of labels, lids, boxes, code dates, and general condition of product 
  • Preventing food safety and quality problems by stopping production when necessary, quarantining product believed to be in non-compliance with Neighbors standards, and escalating issues to personnel with authority to initiate action
  • Initiation of RCA (root cause analysis) when deviations or nonconformances occur
  • Maintain HACCP and SQF quality records
  • Sample collection and submission to 3rd party laboratories
  • Follows and champions all Food Safety and GMP procedures across departments
  • Environmental monitoring and sample swab collection for compliance
  • Utilizing digital quality system software for the completion of compliance documentation and review
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications 
·       HS Diploma or GED required 
·       Associate degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or other related field, strongly preferred. 
 
Experience 
·       2+ years’ experience working as a laboratory technician is desired 
·       1+ years’ experience in food manufacturing preferred 
 
Supervisory Responsibility 
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. 
 
Work Environment 
The work environment is typically noisy, with regular machine noises. The smell of related chemicals and lubricants may occur. 
 
Physical Demands 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
 
The employee is regularly required to be able to bend, stand, reach, or lift. The employee is required to be able to lift items on a regular basis, up to 50 pounds.  
 
Work Authorization 
If hired, all employees are required to submit proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of their start date.
